From the 8 -11 August 2013 the annual Food & Drink Festival took place here in the sunny climes of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (“up north” as we say around here).
This year we were blessed with very good weather and this of course brought out the crowds.
In addition to the food stalls selling everything from pork pies to fudge we had beer tents and stalls selling food from most continents in the world (Antarctica excepted).
As I wandered around the festival site I came across food from India, Pakistan, Argentina, Australia, Mexico, Mongolia, Greece and of course local specialties such as “fidget pie,” local sloe gin, regional beers from micro breweries and wonderful cheeses from Wensleydale (“more cheese gromit?”) and many other parts of Yorkshire.
They even managed to smuggle some Lancashire cheese over the border but this had been done at midnight when the border guards on the…
